With over 25 years of experience coaching both girls and boys basketball, Coach Adrian Shepard brings passion, perspective, and a deep commitment to player development. He currently serves as the Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach at Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, where his leadership has already produced an All-State athlete and several All-Conference selections in a short span.
Before joining Wayland, Shepard was the Head JV Coach and Varsity Assistant for the girls programs at Fall River and Columbus High Schools. He also spent time coaching boys basketball as the Head JV Coach and Varsity Assistant at Bangor High School. Throughout his career, Shepard has mentored numerous student-athletes who have gone on to compete at every level of collegiate basketball, most recently Lucia “Lu” McGuinness of Ripon College.
Coach Shepard’s passion for growing the game extends beyond the high school season. He has worked countless camps across the Midwest and spent three years running youth basketball programs for the Village of Holmen. He coached youth teams in the Badger Developmental League for four years and played an integral role in Fall River’s youth girls skills and drills program.
Outside of basketball, Shepard teaches math in the Fall River School District. Earlier in his career, he worked in both Athletics and Recreation at the University of Notre Dame, Butler University, and Winona State University. Coach earned both his Masters (Sport Administration) and Bachelors (Physical Education) degrees from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse.
Shepard lives in Columbus with his wife and their lively household, which includes three daughters, three sons, three dogs, and a cat. When he’s not coaching or enjoying time with his family, you’ll likely find him outdoors, exploring nature and recharging for the next challenge.
